Former Nigerian international defender Andre Uwe has said that Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr is not contributing enough to the development of football in the country.<\/p>\n
Uwe, who represented his country at the 1988 Olympic Games, believes the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should invest greater resources into local coaches and argues that the large wages paid to Rohr have not proven good value for money.<\/p>\n
\u201cRohr has not justified the huge money spent on him. He\u2019s not developing our football and that is sad,\u201d Uwe, who spoke from Germany, is quoted by The Nation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe grass-roots is suffering as our young footballers are not moving up. Nigeria has huge talents because I\u2019m a product of that and it pains me a lot to know that things have changed badly.<\/p>\n
Uwe added, \u201cThe NFF must invest in our coaches so that they can continue to shun out talents from the grass-roots.<\/p>\n
As coach in Germany, If I have to evaluate him [Rohr] based on what he has achieved in Nigeria, there isn\u2019t much to show.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel the pains of Nigeria coaches and hope things will change soon. It is important to invest in them.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf half of the money spent on foreign coaches is invested on our coaches we will achieve more at the youth and senior levels,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
Rohr oversaw two matches for the Super Eagles last week, a loss at the hands of Algeria and a draw with Tunisia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
