{"id":31952,"date":"2020-11-03T17:00:22","date_gmt":"2020-11-03T17:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=31952"},"modified":"2020-11-03T17:00:22","modified_gmt":"2020-11-03T17:00:22","slug":"tribunal-grants-substituted-service-on-akeredolu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/tribunal-grants-substituted-service-on-akeredolu","title":{"rendered":"Tribunal grants substituted service on Akeredolu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria:<\/p>\n<p>The Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure has granted a motion exparte for substituted service on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the petition filed by candidate of the People\u2019s Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede.<\/p>\n<p>In the petition, Jegede is challenging the victory of Governor Akeredolu on four grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Among the grounds are that the election was marred by irregularities and pockets of violence as well as intimidation and faulty emergence of Akeredolu at the APC primaries.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel for Jegede, Jamiu Makinde had in the motion exparte sought an order to serve the defendants through substituted service by pasting on the petition on the notice board of the tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>Makinde also sought an order allowing access to materials used for the conduct of the October 10, governorship election and in custody of the Independent National Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_ad jeg_ad_article jnews_content_inline_2_ads  \">\n<div class=\"ads-wrapper align-center \">\n<div class=\"ads_code\">\n<p>He listed local councils in which electoral materials are to be accessed to include Owo, Eseodo, Ilaje, Okitipupa amongst others.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Umaru Abubakar, granted the order and said the petitioner could advertise the served processes in newspaper circulating within its jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Abubakar also allowed the petitioner access to election materials in custody of INEC within the hours of 8am and 4pm for a period of five working days.<\/p>\n<div class=\"addtoany_share_save_container addtoany_content addtoany_content_bottom\">\n<div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_32 addtoany_list\" data-a2a-url=\"https:\/\/thenationonlineng.net\/ondo-election-tribunal-grants-substituted-service-on-akeredolu\/\" data-a2a-title=\"Ondo Election: Tribunal grants substituted service on Akeredolu\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa Press-Nigeria: The Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure has granted a motion exparte for substituted service on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the petition filed by candidate of the People\u2019s Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede.
