Nigeria\u2019s squad for their imminent Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers is only set to fully assemble tomorrow, with several stars facing travel difficulties.<\/p>\n
The Super Eagles will face Sierra Leone in back-to-back matches this coming week, starting with a game in Benin City on Friday 13 November and the return in Freetown on Tuesday 17 November.<\/p>\n
However, their preparation for the former clash will be curtailed after manager Gernot Rohr revealed that many players are struggling to find flights due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe update today [Sunday] is that our 23 players are fit, there are some travelling problems because they cancelled one or two flights, because you know in Europe now it\u2019s another lockdown in certain countries and it\u2019s not easy to find the flights but our team manager is working on it with the travelling agency,\u201d Rohr is quoted by All Nigeria Soccer.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that all the 23 players will be here at least on Monday. Some of them are playing on Sunday, travelling on Monday to Abuja then to Lagos, they can only arrive on Tuesday, so really only two days of preparations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s Wednesday and Thursday in good conditions and I hope the grass will be okay in Benin City, I see that it\u2019s a new stadium but the most important for the players is to have a good grass and then to see a good football game.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to give joy to Nigerians in this very special period and we want to be happy with a good win next Friday.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Super Eagles top Group L of the qualifiers with a full haul of six points after wins over Benin and Lesotho in their opening two matches last November.<\/p>\n
