Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed Governor David Umahi\u2019s \u2018dictator\u2019 toga on him.<\/p>\n

Now in the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Ebonyi helmsman accused Wike of imposing his will on the party.<\/p>\n

He cited the emergence of Secondus as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman.<\/p>\n

Wike said the allegation was spurious, noting that evidence abound that Secondus was not foisted but elected at the PDP national convention.<\/p>\n

The governor, in a live broadcast on Thursday, accused his Ebonyi counterpart of treachery.<\/p>\n

He stated that when the party caucus decided that Kingsley Chinda should be elected Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Umahi told his State Reps to work against it.<\/p>\n

Wike said when committed members tried to rescue the PDP from \u201cthe destructive tendencies\u201d of Ali Modi Sheriff, Umahi was one of those frolicking with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe fought, won and Modi Sheriff left. I can say that I am one of those who made sure that PDP never died. I feel comfortable with my performance in my State. Rivers people are comfortable with me too,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Wike disclosed that PDP governors and members have never been oblivious of the fact that Umahi was an APC mole.<\/p>\n

He maintained his position that the Ebonyi governor\u2019s claim that Igbos are marginalised in PDP was diversionary.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore PDP left office, they (South East) had Chief of Army Staff, they have had Senate Presidents, National Chairman, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Minister of Finance. Now, tell me what APC has given to the people of the South-East since 2015\u2026Minister of Labour, Minister of Science and Technology and Minister of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThree Senators from his state said they have seen the need for the South-East to produce president. However, it is not the way our governor is going about. This is not a personal thing. Your ambition should not destroy the entire South East,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Wike also spoke on Umahi\u2019s emergence as governor.<\/p>\n

He said it was Anyim Pius Anyim, a former Senate President and SGF, that convinced the governor\u2019s predecessor to support him<\/p>\n

\u201cIf not for Pius Anyim that impressed it on former Governor (Martin) Elechi, would Umahi have become governor? So, he can\u2019t say he\u2019s the one who has built the PDP. The party made him and if he denies it, it tells you the kind of person he is.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is even his contribution at the national level of the party to support his claim. Where was he when people like Alex Ekwueme fought General Abacha and built the party. I distaste such arrogance\u201d, Wike fumed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
