Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar III, has lamented that contrary to perception of most Nigerians, the North is not safe.<\/p>\n

Abubakar said the activities of bandits has made the region unsafe, stressing that the region is the worst place in the country.<\/p>\n

He spoke at the fourth quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) in Abuja, yesterday.<\/p>\n

The monarch said the AK 47 wielding bandits go around in the villages, households and markets unchecked.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cSecurity situation in northern Nigeria has assumed a worrisome situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople think North is safe, but that assumption is not true. In fact, it\u2019s the worst place to be in this country.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause bandits go around in the villages, households and markets with their AK 47 and nobody is changing them.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is coming when the military attacked a group of bandits in Kugosi and Kajari general areas in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.<\/p>\n

The bandits were located at the boundaries between Kaduna and Niger State.<\/p>\n

Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, had disclosed this yesterday.<\/p>\n

In recent times, there have been several reports of bandits attacking villages and communities in the North, despite the presence of security forces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
