Major General Suleiman Kazaure, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), had warned corps members deployed as ad hoc staff in the 2019 elections to desist from engaging in electoral malpractice or risk being prosecuted.<\/p>\n
Kazaure said this on Saturday in Enugu, while assuring corps members of safety in the forthcoming elections.<\/p>\n
He also urged them to deter from forming alliance and \u201cunnecessary friendships with politicians in order to avoid any form of inducement”.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t create any loophole in the polling unit and expose yourself to danger, as you must be transparent, and not be partisan to avoid an instant reaction.\u00a0You must remain neutral, avoid taking anything from politicians and render your service without compromising the integrity and the election.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou must shun any form of sharp practices at the polling units to be free from unwarranted attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dishing security tips to the corps members, the NYSC DG said security agencies have been charged with providing security cover for every corps member.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cStudy your environment and be security conscious. When faced with obvious danger, secure yourself first. Don\u2019t argue with anyone and if there is a crisis, run to the nearest Police Station or security post.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo not enter vehicles belonging to politicians and strangers as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will provide all your needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are liaising with the security agencies to ensure that all corps members are well protected. So, there is security insurance for all the corps members in the state.”<\/p>\n
He stressed that all corps members must appear in their uniforms and identity cards to enable them to get adequate security during the election exercise.<\/p>\n
