Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>At least, seven farmers were said to have been killed and many others injured by armed bandits in Mashegu Local Government Council of Niger State.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday in the morning.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST learnt that the farmers were killed at a farm in Babban Rami while trying to convey their farm produce home.<\/p>\n

Eyewitness account stated that the armed bandits, stormed the farm and opened fire indiscriminately on the farmers, killing seven and leaving several others with injuries.<\/p>\n

Due to the insecurity situation of the state, it was gathered a lot of agricultural produce that were harvested by farmers in the Council this farming season are currently laying in the farms as farmers are afraid to carry them home.<\/p>\n

However, efforts to get reaction from the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP. Wasiu Abiodun as at the time of filing this report failed.<\/p>\n

The Secretary to the Niger State Government, SSG, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane confirmed the attack in the area.<\/p>\n

He condemned the attack on the innocent farmers, adding that the Niger state government is on top of the matter.<\/p>\n

Matane added, \u201d the state government is currently restrategizing it\u2019s security architecture towards defeating all forms of security challenges in parts of Niger state.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
