Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Maj.-Gen. Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff, on Sunday, stated that Chibok girls were not in the custody of the military.<\/p>\n

The CDS, however, said those who recently escaped might have benefited from ongoing raids in Borno and the Lake Chad region.<\/p>\n

Operation Tura Takai Bango, the first offensive in 2021, had eliminated many Boko Haram and ISWAP commanders and fighters.<\/p>\n

It is believed that troops\u2019 assault on terrorists\u2019 camps aided the escape of some girls from captivity.<\/p>\n

During his visit to the Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri, Irabor said he had no information.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not have any of the Chibok girls in our custody, so if they are not with us, we have nothing to confirm again.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the desire of the military the get the Chibok girls back safely. If our operations have helped those said to have escaped, I think we are glad\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

The CDS, accompanied by other Service Chiefs, was at the Command to appraise the security situation in the Northeast and get briefing.<\/p>\n
