Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Oyo State Police Command, on Tuesday, said that it has cleared eighty (80) Fulani herdsmen who were intercepted by men of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekum.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST that a DAF truck, with registration number Bauchi KTG 220 ZZ, conveying about 80 passengers of Fulani extraction, were noticed and intercepted by Amotekun operatives and Operation Burst operatives.<\/p>\n

The 80 persons were intercepted at Iwo Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday, at about 5 p.m, DAILY POST gathered.<\/p>\n

The passengers, with 25 cows and 13 motorcycles, were driven by one Auwalu Mustapha.<\/p>\n

The occupants of the truck were driven off to Agodi police station in Ibadan for interrogation.<\/p>\n

During interrogation, the Fulani had told the police that they were from Kano State.<\/p>\n

They said that they were on their way to Ogun and Lagos States for commercial motorcycle riding and cattle sales, respectively.<\/p>\n

Sources told DAILY POST that the 80 of them were thereafter escorted by police patrol team to the defunct toll gate at Ibadan along the Lagos\/Ibadan expressway.<\/p>\n

Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Fadeyi told DAILY POST that the Amotekum arrested the herdsmen but, Police freed them because nothing criminating was found on them.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cthey are about 80 Fulani. Some of your people have called me. What I told them is that those people were arrested by Amotekum.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, we profiled them and discovered that they were not armed. They said that they were going to Lagos.<\/p>\n
