Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Interfaith Mediation Centre, Kaduna, has called on all religious leaders and other citizens across the country to always be mindful of their utterances on issues that can lead to violent conflicts in the country.<\/p>\n

Participants at the Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC) Monthly Forum with Media on Peace Journalism made this known in a communiqu\u00e9 issued by the Co-executive Directors of the Centre, Imam Muhammad Nurayn Ashafa and Pastor James Movel Wuye.<\/p>\n

The participants were reacting to comments by Sheikh Gumi concerning banditry in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The forum said statements that could trigger violence and disunity must be avoided so as not to endanger the lives of citizens.<\/p>\n

The forum also lamented the attacks on Secondary Schools in northern Nigeria, especially boarding schools, saying the menace has significantly caused a major setback on educational development in the region.<\/p>\n

It appealed to the state government to provide security for students and teachers in both public and private institutions.<\/p>\n

The group also appealed to religious leaders in the country to always preach on the need for peaceful co-existence amongst their followers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
