Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Olusegun Bamgbose, Esq., a chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, has again asked President Muhammadu Buhari to step aside from office over his (Buhari) inability to handle the security challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n

He noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, leadership are equally getting worried about his helplessness.<\/p>\n

According to Bamgbose, who is a senior lawyer and politician, the abduction of 317 schoolgirls from the Government Secondary School in Jangebe, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State clearly shows that this government lacks what it takes to protect the citizens.<\/p>\n

This is the second of such attack on schools under 7 days following the abduction of over 40 persons including students and staff of Government Science College, GSC, in Kagara by bandits.<\/p>\n

Speaking with our correspondent, Bamgbose wondered how such a number of students who are girls could be kidnapped in this age of technology without any form of resistance from the security agents.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is quite embarrassing, unfortunate and disheartening. Banditry has now become a lucrative crime under Buhari\u2019s administration. This is disgraceful,\u201d he told DAILY POST.<\/p>\n

Bamgbose, a 2023 presidential hopeful wondered how President Buhari, a retired Army General, could not be able to tackle this ugly menace.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s obvious that the bandits may this time around demand up to N10 billion as ransom to secure the release of the 317 schoolgirls.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is just very unfortunate that banditry has almost vandalised the government of Buhari. It has now become a regular occurrence.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnsubstantiated reports have it that the bandits collected up to two Billion Naira to secure the release of the students abducted from Niger State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis ugly trend is no longer funny. It\u2019s becoming obvious that Buhari is no longer fit to pilot the affairs of this nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s high time he resigned if he can no longer discharge his primary responsibility of protecting the lives of the citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Buhari back in those days asked Goodluck Jonathan to resign if he couldn\u2019t tackle insecurity, now the situation is fast becoming worse. One is happy that APC leaders are equally getting worried that Buhari is becoming helpless.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wonder what Lai Mohammed would have said if these were to be happening during Jonathan\u2019s administration. I think we need to tell Buhari to step down because he does not have answers to this problem of insecurity ravaging this country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most unfortunate aspect of it all is that billions will be spent as ransom for the release of these innocent students.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost likely, some of them will be raped. One cannot be sure that after the release, another set of bandits will not do same.<\/p>\n
