Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the organized labour is dead in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Wike attacked the workers\u2019 union on Friday in reaction to the confusion the \u2018greeted\u2019 the increase in petrol price.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulation Agency (PPPRA) released a template which revealed that a litre would cost between N209 to N212 for March.<\/p>\n

But the agency and the federal government said it was only an update on latest market trends and would have no effect on pump price.<\/p>\n

On Twitter, Wike said labour movement in the country \u201cis dead because it has lost its force of engagement with government and can hardly achieve anything good\u201d.<\/p>\n

The governor stated that the leadership has left the substance to pursue shadows.<\/p>\n

Wike said they hardly speak in a manner that can change the \u201cmany anti-people policies being implemented by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government\u201d.<\/p>\n

Wike accused the leadership of the union of chasing things that are personal to them.<\/p>\n

He noted that all over the world, when government is not going the right way, \u201cit is labour that comes out to say we cannot allow it\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMajority of our people are civil servants and have others to cater for. But since the inception of this government, labour has died.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wike further mocked the unions, recalling that they were alive during Goodluck Jonathan\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said the country must come down because he is from a minority area. But look at what is happening.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s increase in fuel pump price, insecurity, and increase of electricity tariff. Where is labour? Where is TUC, where is NLC? The only thing I hear is minimum wage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
