Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Manchester United and England legend, Rio Ferdinand has accused Tottenham manager, Jose Mourinho of \u2018creating a rift\u2019 within his own team after the Portuguese took another swipe at his Spurs squad following their 2-2 draw with Newcastle at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Spurs were unable to beat Newcastle on Sunday, a result that would have seen them climb to fourth place after Chelsea were thrashed by West Brom earlier on Saturday.<\/p>\n

After the game against Newcastle, reporters reminded the Portuguese gaffer that his teams are usually good at defending leads and he responded: \u201cSame coach, different players.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferdinand said that the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United manager may have done more harm than good with his usual attacks on his players, adding that he \u2018fears\u2019 for him and Tottenham as a club.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I\u2019m a player in that changing room, [Mourinho\u2019s comment] is definitely casting doubt over me as an individual and us as a team,\u201d Ferdinand told the FIVE YouTube channel<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat that does to a changing room, man, it doesn\u2019t galvanise them or bring them on side.<\/p>\n

\u2018It creates a rift, especially when you\u2019re not getting results. If you\u2019re winning and top of the league, you can say and get away with these type of things, but not when you\u2019re looking for confidence and searching for consistency.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s not bringing the players on side with those comments, man. That\u2019s why I fear for Mourinho and his squad, because those comments don\u2019t bring people alongside him.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
