Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has advocated the use of dialogue among stakeholders to resolve issues that led to the strike action embarked upon by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).<\/p>\n

The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, spoke on Monday when he received in audience the executive members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in the state.<\/p>\n

The officials of the NBA Ado Ekiti, Ikere Ekiti and Ikole Ekiti branches paid a visit to the Governor, urging him to use his position as the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors\u2019 Forum (NGF) to intervene in the industrial action and also promote the financial autonomy being demanded by the striking court workers.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the three branches, the Chairperson of the NBA, Ikere branch, Mrs Kikelomo Owolabi, said the sanctity of the Judiciary has been weakened by lack of financial autonomy and independence for that arm of government.<\/p>\n

She urged the Governor to rally his colleagues in the NGF to promote the independence and financial autonomy for the Judiciary and respect for the constitutional principle of separation of powers.<\/p>\n

The NBA chief noted that judicial activities in the country have been grounded owing to the nationwide strike by the court workers under the aegis of JUSUN who are demanding financial autonomy for that arm of government.<\/p>\n

Describing the strike action as not too good for the system, Dr Fayemi said dialogue involving all stakeholders remains the best option to resolve all issues on ground for the judicial sector to move forward.<\/p>\n

The Governor also assured the NBA of the support of his administration in fulfilling its goal of defending the rights of the people and promoting the rule of law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
