Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Chairman, Governing Board of Amotekun in Osun State, Brig-Gen Isa Aderibigbe says the number of Police officers in Nigeria is not enough to secure the entire country.<\/p>\n

Aderibigbe stated this during the maiden edition of the Osun Union of Journalists platform in Osogbo on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The theme of the programme; \u201cAppraisal of State of Security in Nigeria, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow; The Way Forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aderibigbe said, \u201c300,000 policemen are not enough for the population of over 200 million people, insisting that more police personnel be hired and trained to boost the country\u2019s security network.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that more security agencies be assigned to land borders and adequately equipped to fight insecurity in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe local government should also be given autonomy, as the local government Chairman is the governor of the people at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should be given the freedom to appoint and employ people at their locality, as this will eradicate the level of unemployment in the society\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
