Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The wife of a People\u2019s Democratic Party Chieftain in Ekiti State, Mrs Abimbola Omotoso, has accused the State government of plotting to frame her husband with \u2018phantom\u2019 rape charges.<\/p>\n

Mrs Omotoso, spouse of the former Lawmaker representing Oye Constituency 11 in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Samuel Omotoso alleged that the government was using a domestic staff that had lived with the family for over five years to achieve the sinister motive.<\/p>\n

But responding, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Wale Fapohunda, said the matter was being handled by the police and that it would be hasty to preempt police investigation.<\/p>\n

Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, Mrs Omotoso exonerated her husband of rape, saying the family of the house help, especially the mother, had even given testimony absolving the former Lawmaker of any rape case.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe allegation is untrue, politically motivated just like many others made against my husband in the past and I wonder when he will be allowed his freedom to private life, devoid of incessant political harassment from the present state government.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy husband is a medical doctor and a PDP politician who contested, won and served as the Honorable member from Oye Constituency 1, the same constituency with His Excellency Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State in the last 5th Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe girl in question who is being politically used against my husband is confirmed to be wayward and ill-mannered and all that she wants is total freedom for her reckless lifestyles as testified to by her mother and brother and she was severely caught red-handed by me, her mother and her blood brother including the Pastor of our Church and hence she is ready to do anything to achieve such levels of freedom\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mrs Omotoso condemned the school Principal of the girl presumed to have been defiled by her husband for allegedly being goaded by some forces to implicate her husband.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the Principal of a public secondary school in Ado Ekiti that abducted the girl from my house without informing me or her parents and tutored her for days to lie against my husband to settle old scores while brainwashing the girl that all the clothes I bought for her were rags and once she becomes Erelu Fayemi\u2019s daughter, all her life will change for good, with free education up to the University level\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Fapohunda, however, said it was true that a case of sexual harassment was raised by the girl in question against the former Lawmaker but it was wrong to have accused the government of complicity in the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cImmediately the matter was reported through the girl\u2019s school, we took a statement from the alleged rape victim and forwarded the matter to the police for a thorough investigation.
