Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano State Government on Monday, confirmed that six persons died of a strange disease in Minjibir Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n

The state\u2019s Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim-Tsanyawa, who confirmed this to NAN, said 46 other affected persons had been hospitalised.<\/p>\n

Ibrahim-Tsanyawa said the disease broke out in Gandun Koya village on May 7, and spread to adjourning communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cause of the outbreak can be attributed to open defacation and poor sanitation in the communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe patients had symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting.<\/p>\n

\u201cSix persons died of the disease, 28 were discharged and 18 others are still on admission,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Ibrahim-Tsanyawa said the ministry had begun investigation to unravel the cause of the disease.<\/p>\n

While reiterating the commitment of the state government to awareness creation and preventive tips, Ibrahim-Tsanyawa, urged the people to keep a clean environment and maintain personal hygiene to control the disease.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
