Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services has revealed that 15 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 436.<\/p>\n

This was contained in a Situational Report released by the ministry covering 1st January, 2020, to 9th May, 2021.<\/p>\n

Within this period, the report indicated that a total number of 16,625 samples were collected out of which 10,939 turned out negative; 436 samples were confirmed to be positive while 5,208 samples are pending in the laboratory, with 42 samples awaiting retesting.<\/p>\n

The report\u2019s epidemiological summary noted that of the 436 confirmed COVID-19 in the state, 93 cases were reported from Damaturu; 73 from Nguru; 41 from Fika; and 38 from Potiskum.<\/p>\n

Other affected areas are Bade with 36 cases, 29 from Nangere; 20 from Gulani; 19 from Jakusko; while 16 cases each were reported from Gujba and Yusufari local government areas.<\/p>\n

Also, Karasuwa had 14 cases; Tarmuwa 13; Fune had nine; Bursari seven; Machina five; Geidam and Yunusari local government areas had two confirmed cases each.<\/p>\n

The report also stated that the total number of active confirmed cases in the state is 46, with nine victims dead from the disease while 381 infected persons have fully recovered and have been discharged.<\/p>\n

It also stated that insecurity in some parts of the state, as well as ongoing military operations among others, is disrupting COVID-19 response and limiting access to remote communities for contact tracing, active case search and community sensitization against the deadly disease.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
