Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, a former national spokesman of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), and a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party over call for the sack of the Nigeria Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi over alleged fraud in the Nigeria Port Authority (NPA).<\/p>\n

DAILY POST recalls that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had called for the immediate sack, investigation and prosecution of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as well as the suspended Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, over the alleged looting of over N165 billion in the agency.<\/p>\n

PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan tasked the transport minister to come clean on his reported connection to the alleged fraud.<\/p>\n

But Eze, a close associate of Amaechi, in a statement issued to DAILY POST on Saturday, recalled how the country\u2019s common patrimony were allegedly looted without hints of remorse by the then PDP administration, opined that the former ruling party has no moral status to comment on concerns of corruption.<\/p>\n

He queried the number of times the then PDP-led Federal Government exposed and beamed its torchlight on the rampaging corruption that cascaded its 16 years rule, stated that only a serious government committed to crush corruption can summon the courage to expose alleged corrupt practices involving its officials and order investigation.<\/p>\n

Eze described PDP as, \u201cbusybody\u201d with grossly deficit understanding of the covert efforts of the Transportation Minister in ensuring that the infrastructural revolution of Buhari government is effectively implemented in such a way to guarantee jobs and evoke massive economic fillip to the pride and benefit of Nigerians.<\/p>\n

The ex-nPDP National Publicity Secretary said, \u201chaving successfully sailed the nation into the gapping abyss of depravity with a shattered economy and forcing the people into varying degrees of abysmal living condition in their long regime which spanned over 16 years, the party and its leadership lack the rectitude and moral decency to talk about corruption which was coterminous with the governance model which they adopted to administer the country when they held sway.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the monumental oil wealths the country reaped between 1999 and 2015, when Nigeria was still gasping for breath under the firm grip of the People\u2019s Democratic Party, the country was worst than the Abacha years, with decayed infrastructure, decrepit power supply, bloated government red tapes and bureaucracy, corruption, nepotism.\u201d<\/p>\n

He claimed that the fight to link the former Rivers Governor to corruption has been on since he left office as Rivers Governor, re-emphasising the commitment of the present government to reviving the comatose Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna Refineries and strengthen the fight to eradicate poverty and corruption which according to Eze, were terrible bequests from the Peoples Democratic Party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
