Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Residents of Utsuwa Daa and Baafada villages in Bali local government area of Taraba State, Northeast Nigeria has debunked Police reports that only three people were killed in a fresh attack that displaced over 1000 people.<\/p>\n

The locals said on Monday that the figure given by police authorities was wrong, adding that the villagers buried 11 of their relatives after the herders\u2019 attack last Thursday.<\/p>\n

The villagers who are returning to their settlements after the Tiv\/Jukun fight over disputed lands were worried that life has been reduced to nothing by killer herders who constantly attack innocent people both on their farmlands and at home without any promise of protection by the government.<\/p>\n

The spokesman of Utsuwa Data village, Thomas David said the Taraba State government has done a lot in returning peace between the Tiv and Jukun tribes.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernor Darius Ishaku has been a bridge builder but we are still faced with the problem of killer herdsmen, who were attacking our people and destroying our hard-earned labour. The Federal government is not doing enough to secure the life and property of the ordinary citizen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said some of those returning have barely settled down before they were forcibly pushed to vacate their homes again in the fresh attack.<\/p>\n

The killer herders stormed the villages when the locals went to their farms, destroyed and killed few people that could not escape. \u201cThey killed 11 people!\u201d The locals insist.<\/p>\n

The police said normalcy has returned to the communities but the locals have called on the media to ignore police claims as they always speak from a distance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police are nowhere when our villages were attacked. We are living with the pains not them and we only know whether the situation is calm or not.\u201d Thomas added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
