Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Professor Godswill Obioma, the National Examinations Council (NECO) Registrar and Chief Executive Officer has been murdered.<\/p>\n

Gunmen stormed his residence Monday night, strangled him to death and left without taking anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,\u201d the wife Elizabeth Obioma told Peoples Gazette.<\/p>\n

Obioma disclosed her husband returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja when the assassins pounced on him.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred one day after the murder of Ahmed Gulak. The former presidential political adviser was killed in Imo.<\/p>\n

Buhari appointed Obioma last year. The confirmation letter dated May 15, 2020 was signed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.<\/p>\n

The appointment, for an initial tenure of five years, took effect from May 14, 2020.<\/p>\n

Obioma replaced the former Acting Registrar, Abubakar Gana. The handover ceremony was held at NECO Headquarters in Minna.<\/p>\n

Obioma, 67, was a Professor of Education Measurement and Evaluation. He served as the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council.<\/p>\n

The deceased was formerly the Ebonyi State Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).<\/p>\n

Mustapha Abdul, NECO Director, Human Resources said Ozioma died in his sleep after heart failure.<\/p>\n

Abdul released the communication from Obioma\u2019s second son, Godswill, informing him of his father\u2019s demise.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is to formally inform you that my father, Prof. Godswill Obioma, the Registrar\/Chief Executive of NECO passed to eternal glory yesterday 31\/5\/2021 after a brief illness.<\/p>\n
