Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, in his June 12 message, said he believes the late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) is not happy in his grave.<\/p>\n

Adams, whose predecessor was Abiola, declared that the system of government being practiced in Nigeria is autocracy not democracy.<\/p>\n

The Yoruba leader spoke at the annual June 12 commemoration organized by the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Ikeja, Lagos.<\/p>\n

Adams lamented that Nigeria\u2019s democracy evolves in disunity, rivalry and killings, adding that the democracy Abiola lived and died for is not what the people are witnessing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis present danger has been threatening the fragile union of our great country. And sadly, Nigeria is sliding towards an anarchical point.<\/p>\n

\u201cNigeria is at war with itself because a section of the country has always betrayed the trust which is the bond that binds us together as a nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The guest lecturer, Prof. David Aworawo of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) delivered a speech titled \u2018June 12 and National Integrity\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Head of History and Strategic Studies Department said the cancellation of 1993 election, adjudged the freest and fairest in the annals of Nigeria, caused a setback to the nation\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe June 12 election gave us the opportunity to look back, and redress the mistakes of the past. We can only change the narrative by reflecting on the June 12 milestone to achieve national integration and political stability.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery country always wishes to enjoy the influence and control of a big country, but the size of a country largely depends on the control and influence a country has among the comity of nations\u201d, Aworawao said.<\/p>\n

Dignitaries in attendance were Prof. Derin Ologbenla, NUJ Lagos Chairman, Adeleye Ajayi, Chief Gani Kayode Balogun, Osi Aare Ona Kakanfo, Chief Babajide Tanimowo, Yinka Oguntimehin among others.<\/p>\n
