{"id":45200,"date":"2021-06-16T19:08:22","date_gmt":"2021-06-16T18:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/?p=45200"},"modified":"2021-06-16T18:25:36","modified_gmt":"2021-06-16T17:25:36","slug":"five-confirmed-dead-in-ogun-tanker-explosion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/five-confirmed-dead-in-ogun-tanker-explosion","title":{"rendered":"Five confirmed dead in Ogun tanker explosion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>No fewer than five persons have been confirmed dead in a tanker explosion that occurred in Ogun State on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST had earlier reported that the tanker, which was loaded with fuel, went up in flames at Ajilete axis of the Owode-Idiroko road.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the incident, the Federal Road Safety Corps, said five persons were killed on the spot and two others injured.<\/p>\n<p>The FRSC Commander, Idiroko Unit, Akinwunmi Olaluwoye, told newsmen that the accident happened at about 8:15am, adding that the victims were burnt to death.<\/p>\n<p>Scores dead as fuel tanker explodes in Benue<\/p>\n<p>He explained that a bus and a motorcycle were equally razed in the inferno.<\/p>\n<p>The Unit Commander disclosed that the corpses of the victims had been taken away by family members.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cNo vehicle rammed into the tanker. The tank dropped off from the back of the tanker and exploded.
