{"id":45814,"date":"2021-06-28T18:49:30","date_gmt":"2021-06-28T17:49:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/?p=45814"},"modified":"2021-06-28T17:39:12","modified_gmt":"2021-06-28T16:39:12","slug":"why-ganduje-moved-against-kano-anti-corruption-boss-muhuyi-source","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/why-ganduje-moved-against-kano-anti-corruption-boss-muhuyi-source","title":{"rendered":"Why Ganduje moved against Kano anti-corruption boss, Muhuyi \u2013 Source"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano State Government might have launched an investigation against Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimi Gado, Chairman, Kano Anti-corruption Agency, following the alleged discovery of a multi-million naira misappropriation.<\/p>\n<p>A source in the government circle said the government had since compiled a long list of alleged misdemeanors against the anti-corruption czar since they understood his lifestyle has changed significantly.<\/p>\n<p>The source further revealed that the government was also concerned over the alleged inability of the chairman to account for millions of dollars from international donor agencies through the \u201cOpen Government Policy, OGP donor programmes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could recall there are official instances where the chairman of the anti-corruption agency was requested by the government to give a comprehensive account of loot recovered from several public officers, and millions of dollars from international donor agencies to the commission within the last couple of years,\u201d the source declared.<\/p>\n<p>The source explained that the government also became worried over the flamboyant lifestyle of the Chairman anti Corruption body.<\/p>\n<p>The move by the government on Rimin Gado came shortly after the anti-corruption czar allegedly moved to his new house located in the high brow area of the commercial city.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that the report of the private investigation submitted to the governor painted a picture of a public officer\u2019s larger than life image whose total emoluments cannot diligently support such an expensive lifestyle he adopts.<\/p>\n<p>The source stressed, \u201cIn retrospect, the outcome of that private inquest gave a clear view, and established a case of alleged betrayal of public trust against the chairman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But a senior official of the agency, who spoke on the matter on condition of anonymity, said: \u201cI\u2019ve read a press report on the emerging development concerning the agency and my boss and therefore wish to state that the story in the public space is an admixture of facts and fiction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The official explained that \u201cissues bothering on loot recovery, sum total from International donors, and open government policies are captured on record for curious minds to interrogate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He declared that \u201cthe records are there for public scrutiny\u201d, we have nothing to hide, and except by sharing fate my boss is destined to go down, I\u2019m confident he will end up well in office unscathed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The anti-corruption source, who spoke in favour of the embattled anti-corruption boss, said the government was not happy for him launching an investigation into the State Cancer Center multi billion naira project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
