Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has provided more information about Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari\u2019s link to international fraudster Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST reported earlier that Otis Wright of the US District Court for the Central District of California had told the FBI to track down Kyari and produce him before the court for his role in a multi-million dollar fraud perpetrated by Hushpuppi, the notorious Nigerian fraudster.<\/p>\n

As widely reported in Nigeria and beyond, Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai over a year ago and pleaded guilty to fraud in the U.S. earlier this week. The FBI said Hushpuppi and Kyari have been friends and were both involved in a conspiracy to launder money.<\/p>\n

The deputy commissioner of police was also indicted of receiving bribes from Hushpuppi to arrest a member of the syndicate in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Judge Wright\u2019s permission for the FBI to arrest Mr Kyari and hold him in U.S. custody was unsealed on July 26.<\/p>\n

However, Kyari had in a statement on Thursday denied allegations of conspiracy with Hushpuppi, saying he only met him two years ago and did not benefit financially from the fraudster.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the news, Omokri, via his Twitter handle on Friday, said it would be difficult for Kyari to deny the FBI charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be very hard for Abba Kyari to deny the charges in the FBI\u2019s indictment. I searched the numbers listed in the affidavit on TrueCaller,\u201d Omokri said.<\/p>\n
