Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s handling of corruption.<\/p>\n

Babangida, popularly known as IBB, boasted that he fought graft better than the current administration.<\/p>\n

The retired General spoke to ARISE TV on Friday.<\/p>\n

IBB said individuals who worked under him were saints compared to those in power.<\/p>\n

He recalled how he sacked a former military governor who embezzled N313,000.<\/p>\n

Babangida fumed that those who stole billions are walking freely.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom what I read, from analysis, I think we are saints when compared to what is happening under a democratic dispensation, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, those who have stolen billions and are in court are now parading themselves on the streets. Who else is better in fighting corruption?\u201d<\/p>\n

Babangida, who annulled the 1993 presidential election, has been severally accused of corruption.<\/p>\n

However, no known formal charges have been filed against him by successive democratic governments or individuals\/groups.<\/p>\n

Even former President Olusegun Obasanjo looked the other way while in power despite previous comments against IBB.<\/p>\n

In an interview with TELL magazine in April 1993, Obasanjo described Babangida as Nigeria\u2019s biggest problem.<\/p>\n

He said of IBB\u2019s regime: \u201c\u2026Deficit budgeting, deficit financing, deficit trading but more importantly, we have an administration that is deficit in credibility. It is deficit in honesty, deficit in honour and deficit in truth.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
