{"id":482,"date":"2017-12-12T10:59:20","date_gmt":"2017-12-12T10:59:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=482"},"modified":"2017-12-12T11:00:15","modified_gmt":"2017-12-12T11:00:15","slug":"fayemis-probe-ekiti-panel-concludes-proceedings-submit-report-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/fayemis-probe-ekiti-panel-concludes-proceedings-submit-report-soon","title":{"rendered":"Fayemi\u2019s Probe: Ekiti panel concludes proceedings, to submit report soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Ekiti State Government to<br \/>\nlook into the financial transactions of the state under the<br \/>\nadministration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi has concluded its proceedings,<br \/>\npromising to submit its report soon.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel to the commission, Mr.\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Sunday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Bamise, told the panel today,<br \/>\nthat all the witnesses called by the panel appeared except the<br \/>\nimmediate past governor of the state, who is the Minister for Steel<br \/>\nand Minerals Resources Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, his<br \/>\nCommissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Vincent Kolawole and CASA Consult<br \/>\nLimited.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bamise said having heard from the witnesses that appeared before<br \/>\nthe panel, he urged the commission to close the public hearing so as<br \/>\nto take a step in writing and submitting its report to the State<br \/>\nGovernor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, who set up the commission.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the commission, Justice Silas Oyewole (rtd) obliged<br \/>\nand declared proceedings at the commission of inquiry closed.<\/p>\n<p>It should be recalled that last week Thursday, a High Court in Ado<br \/>\nEkiti affirmed the legality of the judicial commission of inquiry,<br \/>\nsaying the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose had powers to run<br \/>\naffairs of his state and that he had exclusive rights to set up<br \/>\ncommission of inquiry without the prompting of the House of Assembly<br \/>\nand that he properly so acted.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, who delivered the judgment in the suit filed<br \/>\nby Dr. Fayemi against the commission of inquiry, said Governor Fayose<br \/>\nacted pursuant to Section 2 (1) of the Commission Inquiry Law Cap C10<br \/>\nLaws of Ekiti State.
