{"id":48527,"date":"2021-08-18T12:56:35","date_gmt":"2021-08-18T11:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nnamdi-kanu-ipob-told-sit-at-home-order-affects-igbos-more-than-buhari-stops-investors"},"modified":"2021-08-18T12:59:51","modified_gmt":"2021-08-18T11:59:51","slug":"nnamdi-kanu-ipob-told-sit-at-home-order-affects-igbos-more-than-buhari-stops-investors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/nnamdi-kanu-ipob-told-sit-at-home-order-affects-igbos-more-than-buhari-stops-investors","title":{"rendered":"Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB told sit-at-home order affects Igbos more than Buhari, stops investors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has again been told the consequences of its sit-at-home order.<\/p>\n<p>IPOB was told that the sit-at-home order affects the economy of the Southeast and not that of President Muhammadu Buhari or the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<p>The separatist group had initially initiated the sit-at-home order some years ago to enforce its push for the actualization of Biafra.<\/p>\n<p>Biafra sit-at-home: Nnamdi Kanu\u2019s brother, IPOB spokesman clash, issue counter orders<\/p>\n<p>But, with the rearrest of IPOB\u2019s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, the group had issued the order to push for his release.<\/p>\n<p>IPOB had ordered people of the Southeast and those sympathetic to the Biafra course to sit at home every Monday.<\/p>\n<p>After the first Monday sit-at-home which recorded massive compliance, the group adjusted the order.<\/p>\n<p>IPOB\u2019s Directorate of State said the sit-at-home would now be observed every time Kanu is expected to appear in court.<\/p>\n<p>However, a former National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu warned of the dangers of complying with the directive.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with DAILY POST, Ibegbu urged IPOB to seek alternative means of agitation.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ibegbu, the sit-at-home order was chasing potential investors away from the Southeast.<\/p>\n<p>Ibegbu said: \u201cIt has a moral force but is detrimental to our economy. It will quell investments in Igboland, other means should be sought to achieve the same objective.
