Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Ayo Adebanjo, leader of the Pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has said Nigeria is fast becoming a dictatorial and tyrannical state under President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.<\/p>\n

Adebanjo said the recent pronouncements by the Buhari\u2019s government had shown that Nigeria is fast becoming a tyrannical and dictatorial state.<\/p>\n

Condemning Buhari\u2019s review of Grazing Reserves and routes in some states, Adebanjo insisted that the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, recently assented by the President, has exposed his tyrannical and dictatorial nature.<\/p>\n

I warned Nigerians against Buhari in 2015 \u2013 Adebanjo<\/p>\n

In a statement by Afenifere\u2019s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, Adebanjo said: \u201cThe dictatorial tendency of the President can be seen in his insistence to go ahead with re-opening grazing routes and establishment of ranches in the country when the preponderance of opinions across the country is to do away with open grazing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe vividly recall that on February 9, 2021, the 19 states\u2019 governors in the North at their meeting resolved that open grazing could no longer be sustained. They resolved to encourage herders in their areas to go into modern way of rearing cows which is ranching.<\/p>\n

On May 11 of this same year, their counterparts in all the 17 states in the South met in Asaba, Delta state and placed a ban on open grazing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was backed up with legal instruments through the enactment of an enabling law as passed by the respective Houses of Assembly as enshrined In Section 4 and in Part 2 of the Second Schedule of the 1999 Constitution as amended.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso, against the wishes of the majority of Nigerians, the President went ahead to sign the PIB into law despite the obvious injustice contained therein and to which the attention of the government was called beforehand.<\/p>\n

\u201cSame goes for the insistence on going for the non-transmission of election results electronically when doing so was what the majority of Nigerians wanted and asked for. Only a government with dictatorial tendencies \u2018behave in that manner.\u201d<\/p>\n

He accused the President of being hard on agitators while going soft on bandits in the North.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill on the issue of tyranny, the socio-political organisation submitted that this could be seen in how Buhari administration \u2018is hard on those agitating for a better life for their people while it is soft on bandits, kidnappers and herders who are imperilling the lives of farmers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
