Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards, has said the young players Mikel Arteta is signing, will cost him the Arsenal job.<\/p>\n

Richards feels the Gunners can no longer attract top talent, as the club continues to struggle on the pitch.<\/p>\n

Arteta and his players were booed at full-time after their defeat 2-0 against Chelsea.<\/p>\n

It had piled on more pressure on the Spaniard, who has already splashed out \u00a3132 million on Nuno Tavares, Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale and Sambi Lokonga.<\/p>\n

Richards told BBC Radio 5 Live: \u201cAt this moment, Arsenal can\u2019t attract the top, top players, because players want to go to the better performing teams at this moment in time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you say they\u2019ve spent a lot of money, they\u2019re buying second-tier players or players with good potential who could become that.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should think that the manager\u2019s got some input in the players that they\u2019re getting. But I just think with Arsenal now, they\u2019ve got themselves in such a rut, they\u2019ve done a couple of panic buys.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey signed [Pierre-Emerick] Aubamayeng to his new contract and he\u2019s not done much since that, and then it\u2019s like everyone\u2019s gone forwards and they\u2019ve stayed still.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve been trying to control the finances, and gone out and spent \u00a3132million. No disrespect, Ramsdale\u2019s had three relegations in his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re signing for the future, it\u2019s almost as if they\u2019ve conceded they\u2019re not going to get world-class players. Unfortunately, buying young players is going to cost Arteta his job because he\u2019s not going to be able to do the business.\u201d<\/p>\n
