Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has revealed that Edinson Cavani has given the number 7 shirt to Cristiano Ronaldo.<\/p>\n

The five-time Ballon d\u2019Or winner returned to Old Trafford on Friday after informing Juventus that he wanted to leave the club.<\/p>\n

United officially announced that Ronaldo would be returning to Old Trafford 12 years after he left the club in a then record move to Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

Ronaldo is nicknamed CR7 and has won the No.7 shirt during his first spell at Old Trafford and Real Madrid.<\/p>\n

However, the shirt is being used by veteran forward, Cavani.<\/p>\n

EPL: Two conditions available for Ronaldo to wear no 7 shirt at Man Utd<\/p>\n

Now Ferdinand, who was one of the Man United die-hards that spoke to Ronaldo to convince him to snub City, has hailed Cavani for giving up the hallowed jersey.<\/p>\n

But he further pointed out that Ronaldo might not be able to use the shirt because of Premier League rules as it has been registered for Cavani.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust to think Cavani could be the back-up for Ronaldo, it\u2019s unbelievable,\u201d said Ferdinand on his FIVE YouTube show.<\/p>\n

\u201cCavani, I have to say, what a man! He saw who was coming to town and gave up the No.7 shirt.<\/p>\n
