Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Warri Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, has sympathised with poultry farmers in Delta State affected by the Avian influenza otherwise known as bird flu.<\/p>\n

This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the chapel congress held on Tuesday August 31 at chapel secretariat, Warri.<\/p>\n

In the communique, signed by Comrade Okies Veeky and Dele Fasan, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the union sympathised with poultry farmers especially those of Lawal Iyanda Farms, Orerokpe and Oghenejename Farms Ekrerhavwe in Agbarho in Okpe and Ughelli North Local Government Area and others affected in the state.<\/p>\n

The NUJ also sympathized with poultry managers and workers whose work may be affected by the epidemic that destroyed poultries in the state.<\/p>\n

The union further expressed fear that the epidemic may lead to a food crisis and worsen food shortages across the state and by extension, increase the food prices in the country.<\/p>\n

The Union therefore called on the Delta State Government led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to come to the rescue of the affected poultry farmers.<\/p>\n

The Union also called on well meaning Nigerians, corporate organizations to help ameliorate the suffering of the poultry farmers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
