Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Twenty-four officers of the Nigerian Navy are participating in a four-week intensive United States Coast Guard Boarding Officer training.<\/p>\n

The programme, which kicked off on Monday, August 30, is being attended by six trainers from the Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown, Virginia.<\/p>\n

The American personnel are in Lagos to lead the capacity builder to strengthen maritime law enforcement capabilities in Nigerian waters, particularly in the Gulf of Guinea.<\/p>\n

Sponsored by the U.S. Africa Command, the training will explore techniques and procedures for maritime law enforcement at-sea in a safe and professional manner.<\/p>\n

A statement by the Embassy in Nigeria said it will highlight more challenging scenarios and tactics in the use of force, evidence processing, arrest procedures, and perseverance.<\/p>\n

The participants will explore countering illicit maritime activities such as illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.<\/p>\n

Others are trafficking of weapons, narcotics, people, and piracy and oil infrastructure insecurity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
