Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The members of the National Committee on Local Government Congress of the APC in Osun, have denied reports of a parallel congress in the state.<\/p>\n

The committee claimed it was satisfied with the peaceful conduct of the party\u2019s members in the state.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST reported earlier that The Osun Progressive (TOP), a caucus group within the APC, with the backing of the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola in Osogbo and Ife Local Government areas, held parallel congresses,<\/p>\n

But the LG Committee Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye denying the congress, said he was happy with the way and manner the party\u2019s supporters and loyalists trooped out en masse to exercise their right of electing new officers of the party across the local governments of the state.<\/p>\n

Elegbeleye said the committee on Saturday visited some of the councils where they monitored, supervised and observed the conduct of the Congress.<\/p>\n

Among the councils visited at the time of filing the report were Osogbo Local Government, Boripe Local Government and Boluwaduro Local Government.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been to several places. We have been to Osogbo, Boripe, Boluwaduro among others, and we met a very large crowd where consensus was adopted as a model to which the new officers were elected by the party\u2019s members.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings were very perfect; the atmosphere was peaceful and we were very impressed by the way and manner which the people conducted and comported themselves peacefully without any rancour whatsoever,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
