{"id":49675,"date":"2021-09-07T15:38:49","date_gmt":"2021-09-07T14:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/ipob-sit-at-home-imo-govt-seals-banks-for-allegedly-complying-with-order"},"modified":"2021-09-07T15:41:05","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T14:41:05","slug":"ipob-sit-at-home-imo-govt-seals-banks-for-allegedly-complying-with-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/ipob-sit-at-home-imo-govt-seals-banks-for-allegedly-complying-with-order","title":{"rendered":"IPOB sit-at-home: Imo govt seals banks for allegedly complying with order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>All banks\u2019 branches around Bank Road, Owerri capital of Imo State on Tuesday were shut down by the Government of Imo State, through one of its agencies, the Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) over alleged failure to open on Monday, a day slated in the South East for sit-at-home in protest of Nnamdi Kanu\u2019s detention.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the banks affected were Polaris Bank, Access Bank PLC, Skye Bank, Union Bank, First Bank, Heritage (Enterprise) Bank, Keystone Bank, and EcoBank.<\/p>\n<p>The branches of the affected banks in the State, which are now under lock and key have remained locked as hundreds of customers were stranded at the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n<p>When DAILY POST visited the banks, it saw the customized ribbons the state government officials used in sealing the various banks as early as 7 am.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the bank staff interviewed confirmed to our correspondent that the operatives of Owerri Capital Development Authority sealed the banks.<\/p>\n<p>When contacted, Mr Modestus Nwankpa, Special Adviser on Local Print said that the banks were sealed because of building approval plans and not over alleged failure to open on Monday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
