{"id":4977,"date":"2019-02-20T16:47:14","date_gmt":"2019-02-20T16:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=4977"},"modified":"2019-02-20T16:47:14","modified_gmt":"2019-02-20T16:47:14","slug":"gunmen-assassinate-apc-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/gunmen-assassinate-apc-chairman","title":{"rendered":"Gunmen assassinate APC chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Logara\/Umuohiagu Ward in Ngor Okpala Council Area of Imo state, Ifeanyi Ozoemena has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.<\/p>\n<p>Ozoemena was reportedly killed after presiding over a meeting of the party in the ward on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Nation, the suspected hired assassins were said to have murdered him in his house right before his family members.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2418\" src=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/01\/gunmen1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.africa-press.net\/upload\/sites\/3\/2019\/01\/gunmen1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.africa-press.net\/upload\/sites\/3\/2019\/01\/gunmen1.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><br \/>\nConfirming the incident, a community leader, Chief Martin Opara, urged security agencies to fish out the killers of the APC chieftain without delay.<\/p>\n<p>Opara said the Eze-in-Council in conjunction with the community\u2019s town union had met and sent a delegation to the Divisional Police Officer requesting that masterminds of the dastardly act should be arrested without any hesitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis killing is strange to our community.
