{"id":49897,"date":"2021-09-10T17:16:28","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T16:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/?p=49897"},"modified":"2021-09-10T16:21:41","modified_gmt":"2021-09-10T15:21:41","slug":"how-open-grazing-ban-vat-bills-will-affect-lagos-parties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/how-open-grazing-ban-vat-bills-will-affect-lagos-parties","title":{"rendered":"How open grazing ban, VAT bills will affect Lagos \u2013 Parties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Lagos says the Anti-Open Grazing and Value Added Tax (VAT) bills passed on Thursday will generate positive impacts.<\/p>\n<p>The political parties commended members of the House of Assembly for meeting \u201cthe yearnings of the people\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Abiodun Salami, IPAC publicity secretary, in a statement, assured that the passage would foster a harmonious relationship among ethnic groups.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesman said it would also enhance the economy of Lagos and guide against lawlessness.<\/p>\n<p>Salami expressed confidence that the VAT bill would promote fiscal federalism as states can now get more funds for infrastructure development.<\/p>\n<p>He said the bill is long overdue because majority of the monies collected as VAT by the federal government are from Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>IPAC noted that despite its huge contributions to federal purse, the state only gets back a meagre sum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that the bill has been passed, Lagos will have more money to execute more projects in all areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Anti-Open Grazing bill will also promote the economics of cattle rearing and crop farming. It will benefit both the pastoralists and farmers\u201d, Salami added.<\/p>\n<p>The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) said herdsmen are not ready for the Lagos ban on open grazing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
