Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin slammed a six-month jail term on Oyekan Abdulbaqqi Adedoyin, a prince in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos.<\/p>\n

The royal family member was found guilty of cybercrime. Oyekan and one Oni Stephen Oluwaferanmi were prosecuted on separate charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).<\/p>\n

Oyekan, 25, was jailed alongside Oni from Ilesha in Osun after they pleaded guilty to the charges<\/p>\n

EFCC counsel, Andrew Akoja led witnesses to review the facts of the cases.<\/p>\n

The witnesses, both EFCC operatives, narrated how the defendants were arrested based on credible intelligence.<\/p>\n

The prosecution tendered items recovered from the defendants \u2013 phones, laptops and fraudulent messages printed from the defendants\u2019 email addresses \u2013 as evidence.<\/p>\n

Justice Oyinloye said the court evaluated all the material evidence placed before it, the plea of guilt and the uncontroverted testimonies of the prosecution witnesses.<\/p>\n

Oyinloye held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. He sentenced Prince Oyekan to six months imprisonment with an option of N150,000 fine.<\/p>\n

The court ordered the forfeiture of an iPhone and a Dell Laptop he used to perpetrate the crime to the government.<\/p>\n

Justice Oyinloye sentenced Oni to one year imprisonment with an option of N350,000 fine.<\/p>\n

He ordered the forfeiture of the convict\u2019s phone to the government. The convict must pay $775 as restitution to his victim through the EFCC within 78 hours or risk another six months imprisonment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
