Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>DMW record label owner and singer, David Davido Adeleke, aka Davido, has claimed he had to leave Nigeria, over his involvement in the #EndSARS protests of October 2020.<\/p>\n

Davido disclosed this while speaking with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show.<\/p>\n

According to him, one of his songs \u2018Fem\u2019 became the anthem for the protests.<\/p>\n

However, Davido insists he \u201cdid not record the song (Fem) thinking the protest was going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

He, however, admitted it was an \u201camazing\u201d experience watching his voice become an \u201cinstrument\u201d used to demand change.<\/p>\n

Davido said: \u201cI got into a lot of trouble. I had to actually leave the country. It was that bad.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was reposting everything that had to do with the campaign. It was amazing to see people come out like that.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I will say this: they listened to us. They heard us. They might not have changed anything but they were shook.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davido released Fem after a long social media break in response to his critics.<\/p>\n
