{"id":51259,"date":"2021-10-04T19:24:32","date_gmt":"2021-10-04T18:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/?p=51259"},"modified":"2021-10-04T18:06:49","modified_gmt":"2021-10-04T17:06:49","slug":"resident-doctors-call-off-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/resident-doctors-call-off-strike","title":{"rendered":"Resident doctors call off strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, has called off its ongoing strike.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the doctors, in August, embarked on strike following a disagreement with the Federal Government over some unresolved issues.<\/p>\n<p>However, Godiya Ishaya, NARD president, in a statement, revealed that the ongoing strike had officially been called off.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the decision was taken after a meeting with the delegates of NMA and NARD.<\/p>\n<p>Ishaya noted that NMA mandated the National Officers Committee, NOC, to ensure the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed with the federal government on August 21.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the association also asked NOC to report back to the National Executive Council of NMA periodically on the progress being made on implementing the memorandum of understanding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve officially suspended the strike to resume at 8:00 am on Wednesday. We made the decision in the wee hours of today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWe held an emergency meeting from 5:30 pm on Sunday to the morning hours of today, and the NEC decided that having reviewed the progress made so far, the strike should be suspended,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
