Africa-Press<\/a> – Nigeria<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Thugs have attempted to disrupt the parallel All Progressives Congress\u2019 State Party Congress being organised by The Osun Progressives (TOP), a caucus of the party in the state.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST gathered that there was sporadic gunshots fired as the thugs engaged in a gun duel with personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).<\/p>\n

They were however no match for the NSCDC personnel.<\/p>\n

Recall that the Gbenga Elegbeleye-led APC State Congress Committee had scheduled the exercise for the Osogbo City Stadium by 10am while TOP slated theirs for the open space opposite LadSol Water factory, Gbongan-Ibadan road, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a new Chairman for the APC has been elected during the parallel congress.<\/p>\n

Rasaq Salinsile was elected State Party Chairman by delegates who are TOP members during the parallel state congress.<\/p>\n

Before his election, he was the Secretary of the APC state caretaker committee and is a staunch member of The Osun Progressives.<\/p>\n

Another congress as at press time is being held at the Osogbo City Stadium where Adegboyega Famodun, the Caretaker Committee Chairman is seeking election as the APC State Chairman.<\/p>\n
