Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Exercise GOLDEN DAWN troops have raided some identified locations of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militia wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN).<\/p>\n

The camps were within Ochokwu village in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.<\/p>\n

Some fighters of the separatist organization were killed in a fierce firefight during the clearance operation on Friday.<\/p>\n

Arms and items recovered include AK-47 rifles, rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, magazines, Biafra flags, among others.<\/p>\n

A source told PRNigeria that the secessionists had been occupying the hideout for some time.<\/p>\n

\u201cTroops exchanged fire with the gunmen. They subdued the IPOB militants\u201d, the officer said.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the military announced the elimination of ESN members who killed Department of State Services (DSS) operatives in Anambra.<\/p>\n

The officers were part of security personnel on protection duty for a campaign rally ahead of the Anambra poll.<\/p>\n

The governorship election will hold on Saturday, November 6.<\/p>\n
