{"id":53207,"date":"2021-11-11T16:15:06","date_gmt":"2021-11-11T15:15:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nafdac-raises-alarm-over-sachet-water-brands-without-factory-addresses-in-adamawa"},"modified":"2021-11-11T16:17:16","modified_gmt":"2021-11-11T15:17:16","slug":"nafdac-raises-alarm-over-sachet-water-brands-without-factory-addresses-in-adamawa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/nafdac-raises-alarm-over-sachet-water-brands-without-factory-addresses-in-adamawa","title":{"rendered":"NAFDAC raises alarm over sachet water brands without factory addresses in Adamawa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised an alarm that sachet water brands without reachable factory addresses have flooded Adamawa State.<\/p>\n<p>The state Coordinator of the agency, Mr Gonzalez Nyor who disclosed this at an interview in Yola on Thursday, said although the water brands indicated addresses on their wraps, the locations of their factories or their time of production remained unknown to the agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThere are a lot of sachet water manufacturers without proper addresses,\u201d Nyor said, adding that the agency believes that sometimes the shady manufacturers produce water at the night.<\/p>\n<p>Explaining the situation further, the Adamawa State NAFDAC coordinator said, \u201dIf you go to the facilities, you will not see anybody and nothing is happening in the factories, but still their water is seen in the town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He assured, however, that NAFDAC was working to arrest the situation and other similar infractions through intelligence gathering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlready, three water factories have been sealed in the state following the expiration and non-renewal of their production licences,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said intelligence gathering revealed that many of even the duly registered producers do not maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was found that some of the manufacturers, after being registered and numbered, deviated from what they were licensed for,\u201d he said, adding that during an inspection, the agency identified some factories with licences that expired four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>NAFDAC seals 38 water production companies in Sokoto<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
