Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Manchester City forward, Lucas Nmecha, has said that he chose to represent Germany ahead of Nigeria and England because he was born in the country.<\/p>\n

Nmecha, who currently plays for Wolfsburg, was born in Hamburg to a Nigerian father before moving to England at the age of seven.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old is eligible to play for any of the three countries as a result of this.<\/p>\n

Nmecha represented England at the youth level before he decided to switch international allegiance to Germany.<\/p>\n

He recently received his first call-up to the Germany national team in the latest international break.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was born here, I just have more of a connection with the German national team,\u201d Nmecha told the Bundesliga media channel.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cAlso, at the time, the coach Stefan Kuntz really convinced me and showed me that there is a path for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that has really come to show. You see players like Adeyemi and guys like that, who are managing to get into that first-team squad.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd doing well at that level. I have played with those guys, and I know where I stand in terms of quality compared to those players.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cYeah, my dad has got a lot of family out there. It\u2019s been a really long time since I have been there. I think I was seven years old the last time I went.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s definitely a thing on the bucket list when I do get a good amount of time off. That will definitely be somewhere I will be going soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
