Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Yet to be identified gunmen have attacked the Ikpomolokpo palace in Gege ward of Ado Local Government Area, Benue State, killing a son of the monarch.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occured in the early hours of Monday when the attackers invaded the palace aiming at abducting the monarch and his wife.<\/p>\n

Chief James Oche, Chairman of the local government who confirmed the development to journalists in Makurdi the State capital, said one of the monarch\u2019s daughters was kidnapped by the assailants.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome gunmen at about 2am today (Monday) entered into the residence of the clan head of Ipomoloko through the fence and asked for the wife of the clan head from the son whose name is Thompson.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe young man told them that he did not know the whereabouts of his mother and they shot him dead and they now took the sister away,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A resident of the community, Mr Adanu who spoke with DAILY POST, said the entire village has been enveloped with tension over fear of more attacks.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cat about 2am, we started hearing heavy gunshots from the palace area but no one could come out because we were all looking for safety\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis night won\u2019t be easy for us, some people have already traveled to Makurdi and Otukpo but not all of us have places to go\u201d.<\/p>\n

Efforts by DAILY POST to reach the State\u2019s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene proved abortive as at press time.<\/p>\n
