Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Esther Dusu, has denied reports that she was among the 16 members of the assembly who signed the purported impeachment of Abok Ayuba as Speaker of the House.<\/p>\n

She also denied receiving any money in relation to the impeachment.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker, who is a member of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), equally said, \u201cI want to tell you that none of the PDP members signed or received money in connection with the purported impeachment of Abok\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dusu, who represents Jos North-West in the state Assembly, disclosed this during a meeting with stakeholders from her constituency in Jos, the state capital.<\/p>\n

The meeting, which was at the instance of the stakeholders which included officials of the party from the various wards in her constituency and elders, was to hear from her concerning the allegations.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cLet start from here, on the 28th July 2021, the Majority Leader (APC) of the State House Assembly, Hon. Nanlong Daniel moved a motion in the House, passing a vote of confidence on Rt. Hon. Abok Ayuba and was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Peter Gyendeng (PDP).<\/p>\n

The lawmaker however said, thereafter, they went on recess.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Abok after that has done anything wrong, it is constitutional, and according to the House rules, we will be called and informed about the wrongdoing of Abok, and there we don\u2019t have confidence in his leadership, but that was not done.<\/p>\n

\u201cI and Abok have a very cordial relationship, and respect for each other, and we have never had any issue; in fact, I seconded his nomination as Speaker of the House.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to her, \u201cI was never called for any meeting, informing of Abok\u2019s wrongdoing, if there was even such a meeting, I was never called, talk more of saying they brought a paper and I Esther Dusu signed, I never did.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not defending only myself, even the second member whom they said signed the impeachment paper, is not true, these are all cooked lies; in fact, let me inform you that there is no PDP member that signed the purported impeachment paper, as claimed by the Hon. Yakubu Sanda led group\u201d, she maintained.<\/p>\n

Dusu expressed surprise and disappointment that the Majority Leader who passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker, would be the one championing his removal, without following the House rules about impeachment.<\/p>\n

She told the stakeholders, \u201cAll negative things they are saying about Abok are just accusations, honestly, if he has done anything wrong, I would have mentioned it here.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot tell lies about the personality of Abok\u201d.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker was at the end of the meeting presented with a plaque in appreciation of her contributions to the development of her constituency and representing them well, by officials of Jenta Adamu Ward.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST recalls that the State House of Assembly has been in crisis, since the purported impeachment of Ayuba from his position as Speaker by eight members, and declaring Yakubu Sanda as the new Speaker, on the 28th October 2021.<\/p>\n
