Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Italian international, Antonio Cassano has told Manchester United superior, Cristiano Ronaldo, that he fears no one, not even the Pope.<\/p>\n

Cassano said this while claiming that the Portugal international sent him text messages \u2018demanding respect\u2019 after the ex-Italy player criticised the five-time Ballon d\u2019Or winner.<\/p>\n

Cassano has never been one to hold back when expressing his opinions on footballers and other footballing issues- and the subject of Ronaldo is no exception.<\/p>\n

Back in February, he described the Manchester United forward as selfish. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t care if others score, he only lives to score himself,\u201d said Cassano. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t live for football, he lives for his own goals, it\u2019s clear.\u201d<\/p>\n

He had said that Ronaldo is not even in the top five of the best players in football history after the player\u2019s agent Jorge Mendes said he was the greatest of all time.<\/p>\n

Ronaldo was said to have been so upset by Cassano,\u2019s opinion that he sent the former AC Milan star messages demanding respect for what he has achieved in the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cRonaldo wrote me messages,\u201d the former Inter striker said on Christian Vieri\u2019s Twitch channel.<\/p>\n

\u201cCristiano Ronaldo, telling me that I need to have respect for him because of the trophies he\u2019s won and the goals he\u2019s scored.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not afraid, to tell the truth, I\u2019ll face anyone; from the Pope to the last on this earth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI called Buffon and he confirmed that he gave my number to the press officer, who turned it over to Ronaldo so he could tell me he\u2019s scored 750 goals and I only got 150.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo him, I\u2019d just say: dear Cristiano, you have everything. Be calm and relaxed. Take your example from Messi, he doesn\u2019t give a damn about anything or anyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe sent me a message, honestly it\u2019s the truth. Gigi Buffon knows it well, Gigi laughed about it. Chiellini knows too.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt made me angry: what are you doing? What is your problem?\u201d<\/p>\n

Since leaving Juventus for Manchester United in the summer Ronaldo has scored 12 goals in all competitions for the former Premier League champions.<\/p>\n

The Portugal international was, however, voted 6th in this year\u2019s Ballon d\u2019Or awards, coming behind the likes of Karim Benzema, Jorginho, Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi.<\/p>\n
