Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed grief over the death of late Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin, describing him as a senior brother, friend mentor, counsellor and confidant.<\/p>\n

Obasanjo also said the 94-year-old late jurist was until his death, his consultation arrowhead and contact point, saying he would sorely be missed.<\/p>\n

The late nonagenarian, who was the father of Dr. Wale Babalakin, and one of the country\u2019s eminent jurists, died on Saturday and was buried according to Islamic tires.<\/p>\n

In a condolence letter made available to newsmen in Abeokuta by Obasanjo\u2019s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the former President said he valued the deceased for his wise and sagacious counsel.<\/p>\n

While saying he was deeply saddened to hear of his death, Obasanjo said he was comforted by the knowledge that Babalakin lived a useful life of service and devotion to his community, state, the nation and to humanity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe commiserate with you and the entire good people of Osun State and pray that Allah, in His mercy, will comfort you and other members of his family,\u201d Obasanjo said in the letter he addressed to Wale Babalakin.<\/p>\n

He added that the late legal luminary would always be remembered for his immense contribution to the building of Nigeria, saying he was a titan, a good man, an inspiring leader and a remarkable statesman, whose intellect, integrity and hard work, he recalled, impacted significantly on the legal profession, especially before he retired as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1992.<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil his death and for many years, he was one of my consultation arrowheads. He was indeed a true senior brother, counsellor, mentor, friend and confidant,\u201d Obasanjo said.<\/p>\n
