Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Adamawa State Government has banned the Professional Hunters Association of Nigeria from operating in the state.<\/p>\n

A statement from the Government House in Yola on Monday said the ban is effective across the 21 local government areas of the state, \u201cespecially in Demsa, Numan, Lamurde, Guyuk and Shelleng.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement which was signed by Humwashi Wonosikou, Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, said the ban follows reports of abuse of the rules of engagement and lack of regard to the traditional institution and security agencies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe operations and activities of the association in the five local government areas has become a source of concern and insecurity instead of the security it is fashioned to provide,\u201d the statement quoted Governor Fintiri as having said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Governor notes that activities of the Professional Hunters Association were capable of causing a public disturbance and henceforth should desist from performing any function under the guise of providing security to the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore worrisome is the fact that the association operates independently of any security organisation in the five Local Government areas, thereby giving room for suspicion of their motive and intentions especially that they operate in uniforms of our security agencies and at odd hours,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

The statement said Governor Fintiri directed security agencies to ensure that the proscribed Professional Hunters Association adheres to the decision as the government will not fold its arms and watch criminals have their way.<\/p>\n
