{"id":54960,"date":"2021-12-09T18:27:33","date_gmt":"2021-12-09T17:27:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/?p=54960"},"modified":"2021-12-09T18:21:43","modified_gmt":"2021-12-09T17:21:43","slug":"biafra-court-told-to-sack-dss-director-general-over-nnamdi-kanu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/biafra-court-told-to-sack-dss-director-general-over-nnamdi-kanu","title":{"rendered":"Biafra: Court told to sack DSS Director-General over Nnamdi Kanu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has asked the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to jail the Director-General of the Department of State Services DSS.<\/p>\n<p>The call came following a court decision that was supposed to allow the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu have maximum possible comfort while in custody.<\/p>\n<p>The trial judge Justice Binta Nyako, who gave the order on Thursday also ordered the DSS to allow the Biafra agitator to have a change of clothes, give him medical attention and allow him practice his faith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rule of law must be observed in all our dealings and we must impress it on the governments at all levels to actively toe the path,\u201d HURIWA said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe right of every citizen against any form of oppression and impunity must be jealously guarded and protected with the legal tools at our disposal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll binding court orders must be obeyed. Nobody, irrespective of his or her position, will be allowed to toy with court judgments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cViolation of a court order is serious, and you could find yourself paying dearly.
